What good is creating a classroom environment, if we don’t provide the proper place for compassion to take place? What good is it to memorize facts about the world, if we miss the chance to translate the information in action to help others? Now, more than ever, is it imperative that we transform our relationship with our students and our approach to learning that allows them to bring compassion to others and ask the question, “What can I do to help?” Bringing compassion to our students is definitely a greater calling for a teacher than just being a dispenser of information and facts. It is my hope that we all recognize the power we possess to truly change more than the students we see in our classrooms – we see it as an opportunity to change the world.
